MT. PICO DE LORO: HOME OF THE PARROT’S PEAK

Mt. Pico de Loro also known as Mt. Palay-Palay is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers. Many people wants to see the paradigmatic rock peak and its Parrot’s peak rock formation. It is the highest point in the Province of Cavite. From the peak you can see the 360 view of Cavite, Batangas and the South China Sea.

How to get there

From Coastal mall provincial Terminal in Pasay City, We took 2 hour bus ride to Ternate Cavite. We left Manila by 4:00 AM and arrived at Ternate Town proper after 2 hours. Then from the terminal in Ternate we Hired a Tricycle going to the Jump off at the DENR station. There, we registered amounting 25.00 pesos each for the environmental fee and then right away we started our trek.

Excitement strikes my whole system when we started the trail up to the peak.  It was really good to hear the insects and the Birds singing in our way. It’s like they are giving us a warm welcome for visiting the mountain.

After 1 Hour we reached the First camp and for the second time we again registered amounting 20.00. I honestly dont know what is that for. We rest for about 15 minutes and then we continue the trail..

15 minutes rest at the first Camp

Again we faced the Long dusty and rocky roads. Ups, downs, Left, Right very Long Journey going to the summit. We almost give up. But when we reached the First summit the 360 view took away all our tiredness and negativeness. Everyone was really amazed.

Thumbs up for Mt. Pico de Loro

We embraced the 360 view of Cavite and Batangas at the the first summit for about 30 minutes. But when i asked them if they can still climb to the Parrot’s peak,Veronica said ‘NO’. She wasn’t able to climb the Last peak because her knee was shaking. she got the fear of heights. So Me, Jessica and Ardemz continued the trail. we left all our things with veronica (except cellphones and cameras).

To continue the trail we need to climb down of first summit going to the foot of the Parrot’s peak. Climbing the Parrot’s peak is more Challenging than the first summit. rock climbing or rappelling skills needed. When we reached the Summit of the peak, i hold my breath for about 10 seconds haha, I feel like we are in the top of the world, the view was really amazing and breathtaking. “wow” is not enough to describe how amazing the view.

What else do we do with the breathtaking and amazing view of fabulous mountain?? Selfie’s ! but it wasn’t all selfies. We did try some Jump shot and stolen which turned out good.

After 30 minutes of staying in the top of the parrot’s peak we decided to climb down and back to the first summit. Veronica was so jealous haha! we stayed in the first summit for another 20 minutes before we climb down.
